Productivity, innovation and digitalisation: which global policy challenges?

How can new technologies help the global economy recover from the shocks of recent years? Can ICT and digital innovation improve productivity and create sustainable growth?

Date: September 7, 2015, 10:00 am Topic: Digital economy and innovation

AM_Logo_small2Bruegel’s Annual Meetings offer a mixture of public sessions and restricted workshops, where Bruegel’s scholars, members and stakeholders can discuss the policy challenges facing the European economy. In 2015 these events are also part of Bruegel’s 10th anniversary celebrations, for which we are organising a series of events in the capitals of our member states. These debates, talks and conferences will bring crucial European topics to audiences across the continent.

This opening session of Bruegel’s Annual Meetings began with keynote addresses from Andrus Ansip and Robert Atkinson, followed by a lively panel discussion with top-level policymakers and industry experts. This session addressed questions such as how can new technologies help the global economy recover from the shocks of recent years? Can ICT and digital innovation improve productivity and create sustainable growth? How can policymakers maximise the benefits of digitalisation, while also helping citizens react to the accompanying changes in the job market and workplace?
