Leire, a Spanish citizen, joined Bruegel in March 2012 as a Media Officer. She holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Navarra and has an International Media Program diploma with the George Washington University of DC.

Prior to joining Bruegel, Leire worked as a Media Officer at ThinkYoung, a think tank working to promote the youth's interests in the EU institutions. She acquired experience in Journalism interning for the Latin American branch of CNN and as the assistant to a war correspondent.

She speaks fluent English, Spanish and Basque and conversational French.

Whatever it takes... maybe

“Whatever it takes” were the words that boosted market confidence and spread optimism throughout world media last week. However, interpretations to yesterday’s remarks couldn’t be more varied. While some media focused on the ECB’s willingness to intervene, others highlighted the financial markets’ disappointment.
