Jonas Markgraf is a Doctoral Student at the Hertie School of Governance and Research Associate in the research project “Public Finance through Public Banks” (STARS). His research focuses on the political economy of publicly controlled banks, the effect of bank-politics linkages on political outcomes and bank lending, and how access to bank credit alters voters’ political preferences.

Jonas was a Predoctoral fellow at the Washington University in St. Louis (2017) and a short-term visiting researcher at the Juan March Institute of the Carlos III University in Madrid (2016). He holds an MSc in International Political Economy from LSE (2014) and obtained my BA in Political Science and Economics from Freie University in Berlin (2013). Jonas has worked as a research and teaching assistant, and as a Carlo-Schmid fellow and consultant at the International Trade Centre (UN/WTO).

In September 2018, he will join the WEALTHPOL Project at the University of Oxford as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow
