Jan Abrell is German citizen. Currently he is research associate at the Chair of Energy Economics at the Dresden University of Technology and visiting researcher at German Institut for Economics Research (DIW Berlin).

He holds a doctoral degree of the Technical University of Dresden and a diploma in economics from the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main. His main research focus is environmental, energy, and transport economics, in particular in relation to the European Emission Trading System. He also interested in numerical programming, especially in Computable General Equilibrium modeling.
